Brazil coach Carlos Parreira on Thursday left out defenders Cafu and
Roberto Carlos from the 23-man squad he named for the upcoming Confederations
Cup which will be played in Germany this June.
Included in the squad, however, are Barcelona’s Ronaldinho and
Ronaldo of Real Madrid, as well as PSV Eindhoven’s goalkeeper
Gomes, who impressed for the Dutch club during their Champions League
run this season.
Parreira said his decision to omit the veteran defenders was taken
to allow him to blood new players. “The only way of
evaluating a player is to allow them to play in the team at a good
level like this.”Brazil will play Greece, Japan and Mexico in
the first phase of the Confederations Cup in Germany. |
